hey
i'm considering applying to mca in the fall,
i'm interested in the photography program and was wondering how to put together my portfolio.
should there be a lot of variety?
should there be a certain theme?
i also have some artwork and misc. to put in my portfolio as well.

any input would be excellent.
thanks!

thank you!
Definitely put in Only your best pieces.

If you're doing a portfolio review in person, make sure you don't say anything negative about your work. You're there to essentially Sell yourself, so let Them do the critiquing. Just make sure you take your best work.

That said, it wouldn't hurt to make it really neat and presentable. I recommend getting a nice leather-bound journal-type book, you know the ones where the pages inside are black. Place/paste only One photograph on each page. That way the eye moves to the photograph, and isn't all over the place, trying to look at all the pictures at the same time.

Also, if you know how to develop prints with little white borders around them, I suggest you do that too.

Good luck.
